?There are tips to not only keep yourself safe from the summer's heat, but your four-legged friends too.
?Winnebago County Animal Services wants to remind people if you're going to leave your pet inside your car, it's best to keep your car running with the air conditioning. Even with the windows rolled down 2 inches, within 8 minutes the car's inside temperature can get up to 120 degrees.
?Winnebago County Animal Services Deputy Director, Jennifer Stacy says some of the symptoms of heat distress include heavy panting, drooling or vomiting.
?"Try and get them into a shady place, try and slowly cool them down, give them cool drinks of water, run cool water over the animal, don't run cold water, you don't want to do it too fast and then call the veterinarian."
?If you do spot an animal in a car that is not on with the windows up, get in contact with the store's owner or call animal services at (815) 319-4100.
